We’re pausing shipping to other EU countries

Dear friends,

We are temporarily suspending shipments from Austria to other EU countries because of packaging requirements and the excessive costs and paperwork involved in meeting them.

The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) began applying on 12 August 2026. Together with national rules, it requires businesses selling across borders to register, submit reports, sign agreements and arrange responsibility for packaging in the countries they ship to.

Now, even sending a few bags of coffee to a customer in another country means spending time and money on additional administrative procedures. The more countries we ship to, the more work and expense this creates.

These costs eventually become part of the price of an order. Customers pay more without getting better coffee or faster delivery.

This is particularly hard on small producers. Instead of focusing on making products, growing their businesses and serving customers, they have to spend time and money managing additional paperwork and obligations. As a result, international sales become unprofitable, companies limit where they ship, and customers have fewer choices.

This problem affects more than just Fenster. Other companies selling and shipping packaged goods between EU countries face the same requirements.

Given the number of international orders we receive, meeting these requirements is currently far too expensive and complicated. We therefore have to pause these shipments.

We are working on a solution. As soon as we can resume shipping, we will let our customers know.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
